- The Core Rules Apply: Every horizontal row, vertical column, and 3×3 box must still contain the numbers 1 through 9 exactly once.
- The Sum Cages: The grid is overlaid with dotted irregular shapes called “cages.” Every cage has a small number printed in its top-left corner.
- The Killer Rule: The digits you place inside a cage must add up exactly to the sum in the corner. Most importantly, you cannot repeat a number inside a single cage. (For example, a 2-cell cage that sums to 4 must be 1 and 3; it cannot be 2 and 2).
